On the first day of July 2000 the Sonar Bangla College opened its doors to students with Principal Selim Reza Sawrav as the first Principal of the College. The College was set up in a picturesque part of the Cumilla city known as Burichong Upozilla Poyat, Vorasar on 2.18 acres of land.The College started its activities with 3 Departments, 10 teachers, 250 students. At present the College consists of 2 Faculties, 3 Departments, 2 hostels. The number of students and teachers has risen to about 41 and 1134 respectively.The main purpose of the College was to create new areas of knowledge and disseminate this knowledge to the society through its students.
